St Cath's win inter-school Debating battle
On Wednesday night our College hosted the annual Inter-School Debating Competition. Our students showed off their arguing prowess going head-to-head against Proserpine State High School in both a Junior (7-10) and a Senior (11-12) Division.
The students debated in a round-robin style competition of prepared debates until the top teams emerged who all went into impromptu finals rounds. Watching the students work together, formulate logical, reasonable, and amusing arguments and rebut points was an exhilarating experience and one that all audience members enjoyed.
Both our Senior and Junior rounds were a battle until the end, but our St Catherine's C Senior Team and A Junior Team took out both divisions in the end. Our students learned and grew across the course of the evening because of their notable adversaries at PSHS. Our teams comprised of:

A massive thank you to our staff Ms Shantae Ryle, Mrs Sue McIntosh, Miss Anna Bennett and Mrs Kylieanne Mitchell who coached our students in the lead up to the event. These staff members have been putting in a lot of hours with their teams to assist them on their debating journey's. Ms Ryle has also helped with the organisation and technical details of the competition, so thank you for sharing your wisdom and expertise as well as helping adjudicated all through the evening along with Mrs McIntosh and the PSHS staff. Thank you also to our event Chairperson/Timekeepers Stella Streeter and Olivia Kerwand.

Thank you to our library staff Mrs Tania Dewis, Mrs Ashley Wheatley and Mrs Melissa Pepper who helped with the set-up in the afternoon. That wraps up a massive Term 2 within the cultural realm here at St Cath's. So many staff have put in so many extra hours to help our passionate and talented students shine. Thank you for all you have done in this space. These things simply cannot happen without you.
